New canal-side pub owner scraps car park

THE Shroppie Fly in Audlem on the Shropshire Union Canal has new owners.

The first thing they did was scap the car park! Janet Friend reports.

But worse, should anyone park there they were hit with a £100 fine! It seems a strange thing to do as the pub has only just been named in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2025, and so is likely to get more visitors.

Welcome old and new customers

In a message to old and new drinkers and diners, the venue told:

"We cannot wait to welcome new and old customers. We have lots of exciting plans in the coming months. You will see the same wonderful staff that you all have come to know and love over the last few years.

"But one more important note you will all be pleased to know the car parking system has been removed."

Nothing stated about boats however.
