Water loss blamed on boaters

AS STRANGE as it may seem water loss on the Lee Navigation is being blamed on boaters.

Canal & River Trust state that the loss was caused by 'incorrect operation', obviously by those using the lock, Keith Gudgin reports.

It told that yesterday, Tuesday, the manual lock at Tottenham (western side) was closed, as 'Incorrect operation' lead to significant water loss from the Stonebridge pound.

The other automated lock however is in operation, and the locks are being kept under review regarding water levels.

Levels are very low between Tottenham and Stonebridge and there is a risk of boats running aground.

It is not told what the 'Incorrect operation' by boaters was,
