Uber driver crashed car on Bidford Bridge

THE Uber car was certainly not taking care when driving along Bidford Bridge over the Avon.

He manged to crash ii, as Roger Fox reports.

So the historic Bidford Bridge is closed to traffic as the car became well and truly wedged on Saturday morning.

After being inspected later in the day by Warwickshire County Council’s Bridge Engineer, it was allowed to be moved just enough to allow pedestrians through. (Image by Mark Williamson.)

Not effecting navigation

As yet it is not affecting navigation below, but the road is obviously closed and depending on the engineers' report it could remain so for a while as there is significant damage to the bridge and will take some time to be assessed and then repaired.

The engineer discovered some worrying cracks in the bridge, that it is believed will take some time to repair.

During this time, with a chance of falling masonry, the navigation could be temporarily closed.
