Must have read narrowboatworld!
WE PUBLISHED the given time of opening of Stainforth & Keadby Canal Keadby Vazon Bridge for passage at midnight to 1am.
But someone must have read it in narrowboatworld and realised it was ridiculous, so have changed it to 10pm to 6am on Wednesdays and Thursdays, Keith Gudgin reports.
Cannot open for boat passage
This is of course a much better time for boaters to get though the bridge though not ideal.
This is the bridge that carries the railway between Doncaster and Scunthorpe but at present is not able to open to allow boaters passage though Keadby..
Network Rail, in charge of the operation has told that the repair is expected to take approximately two weeks.
The bridge had 'malfunctioned' and needed a new part that has to be manufactured. It is not explained however how it can be opened during the evenings on Wednesday and Thursday without the part.
LATEST—After reconsideration, Network Rail has advised that they can only offer passage at 10pm and not the previous 6am passage as previously publicised, this is to ensure they have time to rectify any potential issues if the bridge fails.
