The end of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct car park squabbles

THE popularity of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct since it received the status of a World Heritage Site has caused great problems with its limited car parking.

Causing many rows between locals and visitors vying for the very limited parking, Janet Friend reports.

The new car park will have 195 spaces together with bays for coaches and will be constructed on the old Flexys rubber chemical factory in Cefn Mawr, with the scheme backed by Wrexham Council's planning committee hoping it would  it would alleviate the problems faced by residents.

Councillor Rondo Roberts told current parking facilities were inadequate to cope with the amount of visitors. Stating—'It has been the bane of my life since I became a councillor in 2017, because of the anti-social parking, and the disrespect for local communities'.

However the car park is some distance along the A539 to the aqueduct.
