New Stone refuse disposal point next Wednesday

PLANNING permission has been granted for a new refuse disposal point in Stone.

The Stone Customer Service Facility bin compound has been built by Biffa and is ready to accept the bins, Keith Gudgin reports.

The Biffa bins are expected to arrive Wednesday 3rd July, so they will be ready for use on and after that date.

Disagreement

It was following a disagreement between Canal & River Trust and the access owner that the original compound was lost on the 17th of January, with boaters struggling with their waste disposal since then.

The nearest bins being at either Etruria, five hours and 11 locks to the north, or Great Haywood, about four hours and six locks south.

The trust then told that it was looking for a new site, but should that require planning permission, a replacement could be a long way away, however the replacement has actually occurred.
