Another long job?

IT SEEMS that the repair of the culvert failure on the Macclesfield is going to be another long job.

For we reported the failure over six weeks ago yet work has still not started, Keith Gudgin reports.

Reported on 11th December

This present Macclesfield failure was reported on the 11th of December, but its repair will not start until next Monday, the 5th of February.

This culvert failure is south of Bridge 87 in Scholar Green that closed both the waterway and the towpath.

Contractors installed dams so that the damaged culvert could be inspected.

For safety the navigation was closed between Hall Green Stop Lock (13) and Bosley Bottom Lock (12) to reduce fluctuation of the water levels within the pound.

Can investigate

The silt has been cleared from the site so that the teams can investigate, so work can at last begin but with no intimation when it will be completed.

This is in addition to the lock failure on the Marple Flight that 'will remain closed for an extended period', it being another long job.
