READING about the failures of waterpoints I would like to remind your readers of another, writes Jeff Hardcastle.
We pulled up at the services by Greensforge Lock on the Staffs & Worcs and were told there was no water at the tap. There were a couple of men at the services and when I asked when it would be turned back on they did not know but told it would not be long as only servicing, but decided to carry on.
Getting short
We were getting short, but I thought we would managed until we arrived at the junction with the Shropshire Union Canal where there are services, and we did and filled up, being most thankful for we knew about the leak at the taps at Haywood Junction, though it had by then been repaired, but you never know!
I know that in addition to waterpoint problems there are also Elsan problems, but luckily we have a pump-out so don't suffer those.
