Birmingham campaign for Fund Britain’s Waterways

Published: Wednesday, 16 August 2023

PLANS for Fund Britain’s Waterways (FBW) Birmingham campaign are coming together well.

The organisers are expecting a large flotilla of boats to converge on the Mailbox for midday on Sunday, Brenda Ward writes.

Of course, this campaign for funding is not just about boating, a decline in our waterways will impact on everyone who enjoys and appreciates them.

Your presence is important

Do come along to fill the terraces and towpaths around the Mailbox; we are expecting good media coverage so your presence is important. There will be a FBW information stand and Birmingham Canal Navigations has kindly provided Atlas as a second base.

Once the boats are gathered we will be broadcasting a presentation and speeches online, a PA system would not work there so we are using a hi tech method.

Volunteers

It would be useful to have more volunteers to help man the FBW stand and help marshal the flotilla of boats. If you are available between 10am and 1pm on Sunday please let us know.

Following this event, we hope to promote the Fund Britain’s Waterways campaign at the Brownhill's Festival 19/20th August and obviously at our Festival of Water at Pelsall 26/27th August, please support these events.
