Burnt-out sunk boat closes Leicester Section

A BURNT-OUT narrowboat has burnt-out and sunk, and closed the Leicester Section at Aylestone.

This closed the waterway yesterday, Wednesday' between Aylestone Mill Lock and Parsons Bridge, Keith Gudgin reports.

Fuel spillage

The resulting fuel spillage is also adding to the difficulties of recovering the boat that is blocking the canal.

The fire brigade attended the blaze and brought it under control, with the police also attending and making enquiries.

The Leicester Section of the Grand Union Canal at Aylestone is of course closed until further notice.
