THE Rochdale Canal is to be closed at Hebden Bridge during August.

This is being caused by the leakage from Lock 8, Keith Gudgin reports.

Canal & River Trust tell that his has been leaking for some time, and it seems should possibly have been done during the winter works.

Inspection

It is now scheduled to be closed from Monday 7th August when a fabric dam will be installed to allow inspection of the problem.

Once inspected and the nature of what needs to be done  is revealed, an update of the time-scale needed for the repair will hopefully be given.

Another broken lock

The Ure Navigation is closed at Milby Lock (8).

There is a problem with the sluice that has snapped, closing the navigation yesterday, Wednesday.

Allow access

'The team' have attended and it is told that repairs will be carried out after the removal of a tree at Bridge 8 that will allow access to Milby Lock. It is expected the problem will be sorted later today and the navigation reopened.
