CONTRACTORS attending the closure of Lock 57 of the Trent & Mersey have found a new problem.
The Heartbreak Hill Lock at Hassall Green suffered a broken heel post on the 4th of July, but now another problem has been discovered.
We being told—'our specialist contractors have attended site today, unfortunately we have identified a need for further investigations before the repair can commence'.
The 'problem' however is not disclosed.
The good news
The good news is that Lock 5W on the Huddersfield Narrow has been repaired and the navigation is open.
And further, Wood End Bridge on the Peak Forest has been fixed and that navigation is also open.
