THE six broad locks at the start of the Trent & Mersey Canal are still closed.
This is owing to lack of water, even though fed by the Trent. So from Derwent Mouth Lock to Stenson Lock the navigation is closed.
Over a foot low
Passing through these locks earlier this week we saw the level was over a foot low, we getting grounded, but just making it before they closed.
This is the only time this has occured to our knowledge in 25 years moored at Sawley Marina.
Luckily, we will not be having this problem again...
