ATTEMPTS are still being made to repair the Wood End Swing Bridge.
This swing bridge on the Peak Forest Canal has suffered many closures over the past months, stopping navigation.
Help to resume navigation
So Canal & River Trust tells 'our teams have been working on several alternative repair methods to the structure that will help us to resume navigation without the need to access third party land.'
Contractor will be on site from Monday next week to attempt a repair without the need for a crane.
But strangely, only as a temporary repair we are told, but if successful hopeful to resume navigation next week.
If not successful the trust will need to 'continue to look at the alternative arrangements for the repair'. But from what is told it being temporary, it still does not solve the overlaying problem.
