Still getting closures

AFTER nearly three weeks break from closure notices, alas they are still coming.

The 'Wink was on the Blink' yet again on Monday with the Winkwell Swing Bridge on the Grand Union out of action with the usual 'mechanical fault', Keith Gudgin reports.

Then Tuesday brought the Erewash closed between Greens Lock (68) and Potters Lock (69), Canal & River Trust attempting to blame a gate being left open causing the stoppage.

How this can happen is not told—as an open gate will hardly drain a pound.

Then on Wednesday it was the Weaver closed again, this time Saltersford Lock out of action owing to a bolt failure within the two upper gates giving problems, so investigations are required.

Keeping up a stoppage of one a day!
