New swing bridge for the Leeds & Liverpool

A NEW swing bridge is being commissioned for the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.

Contractors will be carrying out works to commission a new swing bridge on the waterway that will be operational in January, Keith Gudgin reports.

Alas it is not the forever breaking down Coxhead Swing Bridge, but Moss Swing Bridge (218) at Rodley, that has no record of ever being out of action.

The new bridge, Canal & River Trust state 'will be manually operated and electronically powered', a contact number will also be provided to call in the case of an emergency—when it does break down!
