Can we believe it?

SO ONCE again there's going to be 172 large scale winter works we are told, writes James Henry.

This sounds very much like it did last year, but there is so much on your site that I cannot actually find it amongst what I see are 14,114 updates!

Not large scale works

But I would not call 'works to repair masonry and brickwork, fix leaks, update and install hydraulics and electrics at mechanised structures, as well as replacing seals, stop plank grooves' large scale work, though installing lock gates, yes.

But as another contributor asks this morning—how many like last winter, will ultimately be cancelled?

And also reading this morning that there were ten swing/lift bridge failures this month does not inspire much confidence in the longevity of the work, does it?
