Three more closures over the week-end.

THREE more waterway closures were reported over the week-end.

Lack of water has closed the Leeds & Liverpool between locks 86 and 89 at Wigan, an electrical fault has closed Fretherne Bridge (8) on the Gloucester & Sharpness and there is an 'unidentified' fault with Woodlesford Lock on the Aire & Calder, Keith Gudgin reports.

More closures

With the lack of rainfall it is expected that there will be more closures as pumping facilities fail as rivers, streams and brooks run dry.

A late notice from Canal & River Trust states that the Fretherne Bridge has been repaired though it still shows 'Navigation: Closed'.
