'Narrow' reopens

THE culvert leak on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal has been attended to with the navigation reopened.

It was on the 11th of April that the leak closed the waterway between locks 20E and 21E, with the repairs expected to be completed by Easter Sunday, Keith Gudgin reports.

Reopened today

However, the contractors were unable to fulfil this, but the leak has now been attended to and the waterway reopened today, Thursday.

It was the extremely low pound between the two locks that pointed to the culvert leak, that was established when the pound was pumped-out, and repairs undertaken.
