Santa’s back on the Chesterfield

AFTER a year off, due to coronavirus, Santa will be back on the Chesterfield Canal this Christmas.

The Chesterfield Canal Trust is delighted to be able to announce that all four of its tripboats will be running Santa Special cruises in December.

Will get presents

All the children will get a present; all the adults will get a seasonal drink and a mince pie or similar. All fares are £8. Booking is essential.

Publicity Officer, Rod Auton explained:

“We are really looking forward to greeting Santa again this year. We hope that he has been keeping fit during the lockdowns becausewe are expecting him to be showing up in four different locations on the same days.

“We thought that passengers might be a bit reluctant to book this year with all the Covid worries, but we have been amazed by the number of bookings that we have taken already. All the crews are taking suitable precautions and the boats will be well ventilated, so we trust that all will go well.”

The boats

John Varley ll will be running from Tapton Lock in Chesterfield on Saturdays and Sundays, 4th/5th, 11th/12th and 18th/19th December plus Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd December. To book, ring 01629 533020.

Hugh Henshall will be running from Shireoaks on Saturdays and Sundays, 4th/5th, 11th/12th and 18th/19th December plus Wednesday 22nd & Thursday 23rd December. To book, ring 0114 360 0460.
