THE repairs to the lock on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal have been completed.

The navigation is now open through Lock 29E, with Canal & River Trust claiming that phase one has been completed and the contractors have advised the lock can be reopened earlier than expected, Keith Gudgin reports.

Voids first appeared

It was on the 10th of July when voids first appeared, were repaired but the voids opened-up again and were repaired, and then opened-up yet again closing the canal on the 21st July,

These voids opened-up once again draining the pound between locks 29E and 30E half way between Marsden and Slaithwaite, closing the waterway, but have once again been attended to with the navigation re-opened.
