Five waterways closed already this week

AS WATERWAY usage is now in full swing the stoppages are coming fast and furious with boaters stuck at five already this week!

First is was Glasson Swing Bridge(9) at Glasson Dock on the Lancaster that failed again, Keith Gudgin reports.

Gunthorpe fails again

Then he is reporting further failures including Wolvercote Lift Bridge (234) on the Oxford Canal and Gunthorpe Lock on the Trent failing yet again with the notice that 'there is a more serious fault', that does not brood too well for those stuck there.

Still a further stoppage on the Oxford, this time closing 'the second most popular canal on the system' at Dashwood Lock, Lock (37) with all we are told being that 'following on from our inspection, plant and equipment is now being mobilized in order to begin repairs on Wednesday the 9th of June.'

Swing bridge

Then it's the Leeds & Liverpool Canal with, for the countless time, a failed swing bridge closing the waterway, this time Warehouse Swing Bridge.

However, with the repair team out and about there is always the chance of a quick repair to a stoppage, so best to make sure.
