Assaulted man was Licensing Ranger

THE man who was assaulted and died on the Grand Union Canal was a Licensing Ranger.

MurderGrandUnionClive Porter, a Licensing Ranger with Canal & River Trust, was on duty at the time of his assault and subsequent death at Broughton on the Grand Union Canal towpath on Monday 26th April.

Arrested

A 34 years old man was arrested on suspicion of murder after the worker was attacked and left to die on the towpath, as despite the best efforts of paramedics and police officers, sadly the man died at the scene.

The police investigation concentrated by a narrowboat moored at the scene, as the photograph shows.
