Cruiser jammed under Severn bridge

A CRUISER on the swollen Severn was taken by the strong current into a bridge where it became trapped.
Alan Tilbury tells us the cruiser collided with Bewdley Bridge and with the water being high became trapped under an arch, with police, firefighters and the Severn rescue boat being called out.
As the steerer was able to get the boat from under the bridge, after around 20 minutes, the Severn Area Rescue Association that was also alerted, were cancelled.
The bridge is actually on the upper Severn outside navigable waters, and the boat should not have been there, especially in such conditions, and was seen to be an irresponsible thing to do, which could have had dire consequences.
