Trust worker killed on towpath

A WORKER for Canal & River Trust has been murdered on the Grand Union Canal towpath.

The police were alerted to an assault on the Grand Union Canal at Bridge 14 near Broughton in Aylesbury around 12.20pm on Monday, after the worker was attacked and left to die on the towpath, Alan Tilbury reports.

Died at the scene

Paramedics attempted to save the Canal & River Trust worker, but he died at the scene, with a 34 years old man arrested  on suspicion of murder after the worker was attacked and left to die on the towpath.

It was confirmed that the man was one of a team of Canal & River Trust working on the Grand union Canal.

A police spokesman reported that police officers found a man with serious injuries, but despite the best efforts of paramedics and police officers, sadly the man died at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by Family Liaison Officers.
