SCAFFOLDING has now been erected at the damaged bridge on the Lancaster Canal and so it is reopened for navigation.

FordGreenBridgeFord Green Bridge (67) at Garstang on the Lancaster Canal was damaged earlier this month by a vehicle strike that closed both navigation and the towpath owing to loose masonry, Keith Gudgin reports.

Starts in April

This means that scaffolding had to be erected so that work can begin on its repair, that it is hoped will commence on the 5th April.

When the work starts, Canal & River Trust request that boaters take notice of any instructions given by the contractors whilst it is in progress.
