More Weaver woes

Published: Friday, 26 February 2021

IT WOULD seem that the Weaver Navigation at the moment is not the place to be.

Even after all the closures due to control boxes being put out of action by the flood, closing swing bridges and no services comes the information that Winnington Swing Bridge is now closed to boaters, Keith Gudgin reports.

Narrowboats could get under

This bridge first failed on the 19th February due to its control box out of action, but at least it being for larger shipping,  narrowboats were able to get under it.

But alas no longer, as there is an issue with the duct carrying the cables controlling the traffic signals at the bridge that have broken off.

This however concerns the local authority and a method of repair requires to be established before it can be repaired.
