Working seven day week to repair Trent & Mersey culvert

THE Canal & River Trust tells it will be working a seven day week to repair the broken culvert on the Trent & Mersey Canal.

Located between bridges 184 and 185 at Northwich the failed culvert closed the waterway, with the Trust now going all-out to repair, as the canal is regarded as important, due to its heavy use and home to many boat hire companies.

Permission for work to start

The third party gas company, whose pipeline is by the culvert, has given permission for work to start, with contractors first excavating the canal bed to reach the culvert.

Then. the Trust maintains, it 'will be making every effort to re-open both navigation and towpath as soon as possible, including working 7 [seven] days a week'.
