Oxford lift bridge inoperable until today

Published: Wednesday, 05 August 2020

THE automated Mill Lift Bridge (205) on the Oxford Canal failed yesterday, Tuesday.

However this bridge on the South Oxford can also be operated manually, Keith Gudgin reports, but not until today!

Operated today

Canal & River Trust states that there is a schedule for operating the bridge manually but only at set times, though no reason is given for this, only that these times will be published today.

In the meantime the 'defective components' will be replaced when available.  This lift bridge was automated in 2016 to make it suitable for single handed working.

LATEST:

The bridge can now be operated from 10am to 11am and from 2pm to 3pm.
