THE Bude Canal Trust has now had the support of an MP in its endeavours to promote the waterway's restoration.

Geoffrey Cox, MP for Torridge & West Devon attended a Bude Canal Partnership Trust meeting to learn about the latest developments concerning the waterway.

The Bude Canal lies on the Devon/Cornwall border and runs from Bude to near Holsworthy, and is protected by the Bude Canal Trust, that recently received two cheques, one for £2,000 from Councillors Richard Brown and Ken James, and the other from the Bristol company CryoService for £780.00, which will be used  to preserve the canal and its aqueduct together with the towpath and wildlife habitat.
