BOATERS are being advised to ignore the flood warning lights on Stamp End Lock on the Witham as out of action.

StampEndLockWork on the sluices of the lock at Lincoln means that the flood warning lights will be set to 'Navigation Flow Intermediate—Proceed with caution' as they are no longer automatically activated from the EA Water Level System.

No longer automatic

Contractors, JBA Bentley, are working on behalf of the Environment Agency are replacing the sluices at Stamp End, but during works, the operation of the lock will be unaffected. However the flood warning lights at Stamp End and Brayford Pool will no longer be automatically controlled.

It is advised that boaters should take extra care before proceeding and if in doubt not navigate.  The sluices will take until the end of January to replace.
