Waded canal to escape police

AFTER a burglary at an engineering firm in Huddersfield, a man waded across the Huddersfield Narrow Canal to escape police.
However, his rather wet escape was unsuccessful, for further police caught him at the other side, and he was arrested.
It was a local who called the police after seeing activity in the dark at Thomas Broadbent and Sons Ltd works, with a lorry being loaded with steel.
When the police arrived they saw the gates were unlocked and three men, who all ran off, with one taking to the waterway to try to escape, but the other two are still at large.
