Middlewich Narrowboats has gone

THE wharf in Middlewich that is the home of Middlewich Narrowboats on the Trent & Mersey Canal is deserted, with its website down.

The closure of its main hiring route due to the breach on the Middlewich Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal would have had a big inpct upon it should it still have been in business, as the Llangollen Canal was a big draw for its hirers.

Boats seen

Two of its boats, Elm and Willow are for sale at Venetian brokers whilst another two have been seen moored bankside near Nantwich without licences, that rather points to its demise.

It was in 2011 that long established Willow Wren Kearns Ltd went into liquidation and 're-emerged' as Middlewich Narrowoats, with another name, Chugalong Hire Company Ltd, also in the equation.

Companies House shows that a finance company was involved.
