A MAN was talked down off the Worcester bridge over the Severn yesterday, after threatening to jump.

He was talked down then taken to hospital by police after threatening to throw himself in the river, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Early morning

It was early morning around 5am that the police were called to the bridge after people were concerned that he was about to throw himself in the river.

The man has now been detained  under Section 126 of the Mental Health Act. A fire crew was also called in the event of a river rescue being needed, but was not required.
