Two BCN Explorer Cruises

AFTER the success of its many previous cruises, the Birmingham Canal Navigations Society is to hold two cruises again in 2016 to encourage boaters to explore the city's canals.

They will be held on the 6th to 13th May and the 10th to18th June, with the May Cruise ending at the BCN Society's Summer Rally at Titford Pump House, and the June cruise will also end at the BCNS headquarters at the Titford Pump House.

Informal gatherings

This is after discovering that many boaters like the additional security of cruising in company with other boaters, and particularly enjoy the social side of informal gatherings and organised activities at the designated mooring locations.

Priority will be given to boaters who have not been on a BCNS Explorer Cruise before, with the intention of the cruises to encourage the use of the less travelled parts and to discover the pleasures of the little used canals of the northern BCN.

Boaters will meet with the organisers on the Friday evening at Wolverhampton at an informal gathering to receive the itinerary and discuss the cruise. The Bradley workshops will be visited on both cruises along with other guided walks, talks and social evenings.

For the June cruise the stops for the night are: Saturday 11th June Pelsall (0 locks), Sunday 12th June Anglesey Basin (0 locks), Monday 13th June Longwood Boat Club (0 locks), Tuesday 14th June Moorcroft Junction (9 locks), Wednesday 15th June Walsall Town Basin (0 locks), Thursday 16th June Wednesfield (8 locks), Friday 17th June Tipton (0 locks), Saturday 18th June Titford (6 locks)
