Email: What we want

Published: Thursday, 12 November 2015

What Peter Ford omitted to include in his diatribe this morning against the Great Ouse Boating Association wanting Canal & River Trust to take over the running of the river from the Environmental Agency was that the Trust now have greater funding possibilities as a charity.

I am referring to the many Waterway Partnerships that bring cash to the table in addition to the very successful 'Friends' scheme, where members of the public give towards the Trust, meaning that under it the River Great Ouse and its tributaries will be much better served than under the cash-strapped Environmental Agency.

I realise that the Trust has short-falls, but these were the result of British Waterways.

As Peter Ford obviously has his boat on the river, he must surly be aware of the short-falls of the Agency and the time it takes for repairs, and the Canal & River Trust taking over from the Environmental Agency is not 'the last thing we want', I can assure him.
