Email: Dunton Windless

I've just read David Hymer's piece on the lock gear; I have had a Dunton Double windlass for years, and it is a splendid piece of kit.

Being alloy it's lighter than the steel windlasses; the only drawback to this being that if it falls in to the canal, you cannot trawl for it with a magnet!

So I am always careful about taking it off the spindle when working locks, and I never lend it to anyone!
