Much worse at Limehouse

Published: Wednesday, 08 July 2015

THE situation with the lock at Limehouse that connects the Regent's Canal with the tidal Thames is much worse than first discovered, and seriously affects narrowboats who wish to use the Thames to travel to Brentford or Teddington.

Kevin Wiles, of British Waterways Marinas Ltd,, operating the marina at Limehouse, tells us:

High Water Springs only

"For the foreseeable future, Limehouse Lock can only be operated during the limited window of High Water Springs.

"While carrying out repair work to the lock at Limehouse Basin, some additional problems have been identified. Repairs are now under long term review. In addition to this, the water flow situation has also worsened due to lack of water in London from the supplying river and canal."
