Half finished jetty danger

IT IS six months ago that a jetty was left half-completed in Market Drayton on the Shropshire Union Canal, and is a danger, especially to children.

Work commenced on the jetty last year, then before it was covered with planking, work stopped, leaving an empty frame, that can be a temptation for children to balance on as they walk over the water, Sheila Halsall tells us.

People in the area are worried about the danger presented by the half finished jetty, especially with Easter approaching and children playing around the waterway.

Local resident Julie Stephens rang the local council, the Shropshire Union Canal Society and Canal & River Trust but all told her they were not responsible.  It seems no one knows who owns the mooring.
