Email: P4 engine problems

I have been reading the scenario of the replaced P4 engine (New engine for Marcellus) and the problems it gave.

I too have a P4 with a TPM hydraulic gearbox which we installed into a new 26ft boat and are having the same or similar problems. Our engine was bought as a total rebuild some years ago with the intention of installing it in to the boat we built.

Some bits were added to come up to modern standards but we now find the valves seem to be stuck as there is little or no compression—probably with the engine being idle for so long. So off with their heads to check. There also seems to be a problem with the fuel pump as no fuel being primed to each cylinder, with this a concern.

Ah well out with the spanners and here we go again.  Wish me luck!
