Boat fired in marina

A CRUISER was torched at the new Islington Marina, at the junction of the Rochdale and Ashby canals in Manchester.

The cruiser Swan was totally destroyed, with residents in a nearby building seeing a youth running away from the fire, Philip McGaw tells us.

Antisocial activities

Marina residents have been calling on Urban Splash to up security at the marina as this is just one of the many antisocial activities and thefts from the £20 millions new marina.

Philip tells us that this year bikes have been stolen from boats, there has been drunken and lurid behaviour in the park attached to the marina and even a gun rampage.

Narrowboat attacked

The area was terrified at a mob of ten teenagers firing a hand gun and breaking both a door and windows of the narrowboat belonging to David Marshall that was moored nearby on the Ashton Canal.

The New Islington Marina was advertised as being located in one of the UK's most exciting regeneration projects, with over £20 millions being spent on the marina and park, with its facilities and new and moorings now available.

Alas, its location leaves a lot to be desired.
