Now it's seven closures this week—and counting
ANOTHER two closures this week seems like the trust is going for a record!
Though the one at Dashwood Lock on the Oxford Canal has been repaired, Canal & River Trust report two more closures.
Structural failure
King's Lock (3) on the Wakefield Branch of the Aire & Calder has today (Wednesday) been discovered to have a possible 'structural failure' to one of the collar fixings securing a lock gate to the bank.
So its now a matter of the team making an inspection and deciding what's to be done. In the meantime the lock is closed to navigation.
L&L suffers two stoppages
The poor Leeds & Liverpool Canal suffers it's second stoppage this week as futher to its swing bridge stoppage comes the 'structural failure' of Lock 5 on the Bank Newton flight, closing the waterway with a heel post failure.
So that's seven failures with the one bit of good news about Dashwood Lock on the Oxford Canal.
