Mix-up at Middlewich Branch stoppage

THE repairs to the damaged Stanthorne lock gate on the Middlewich Branch have been delayed.

The bottom dam was constructed in the wrong place and had to be moved and the pump was incapable of clearing the water so a further one had to be brought in, Keith Gudgin reports.

Some progress

However some progress has been made with setting up the site compound and installing the crane pad and  the required scaffolding is now being installed.

This will allow safe access to the chamber so that the gate can be removed and then the damage will be assessed to 'develop the repair solution'.
