Huddersfield Narrow void has closed navigation again

Published: Friday, 02 October 2020

THE repaired void that appeared on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal has reopened, again closing the navigation.

It was on the 10th August when a void first appeared between locks 29E and 30E, and was subsequently repaired, but the repair gave way yesterday, draining the pound thus closing the navigation, Keith Gudgin reports.

Temporary repair

Engineers will be on site today to undertake another temporary repair to allow navigation.  There is no notice of a permanent repair.

This waterway has been the subject of many closures this year and needs major attention as many have cited, to get it in good working condition.
