Pulling 12 tons of narrowboat

Published: Thursday, 25 October 2012

SIX people are at present pulling a 12 ton narrowboat along the Worcester & Birmingham Canal, from Birmingham to Worcester to raise funds for a cancer charity.

The 'pull' started on Tuesday morning and is expected to take five days to raise funds in aid of Cancer Research UK, and was the idea of Neil Evans, who is helped by five friends, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Target of £5,000

The men will live on the narrowboat during the journey, stopping to go along the vicinity with their collecting buckets, with the team setting a target of £5,000.

It is not known what will happen when the tunnels are encounted without towpaths.
