THE Grantham Canal Society was quick to take advantage of British Waterways' auction of its unwanted equipment, snapping up the first refusal of such equipment in its area.

The result was the acquisition of the dredger Mudlark, that had been left neglected at Cotgrave on the canal for many years, and is seen here in Terry Pitman's photograph on the lorry that transported it to a section of the canal that has been restored.

Some TLC

The dredger is now at Woolsthorpe, but being idle for so long, we are told it is in need of some TLC, though from an inspection everything seems to work as it should.

It is expected that once again she will soon be doing the work she was designed for, so at least the society's trip boat will no longer risk being grounded.
