MORE details have been released of the boater who drowned in the Kennet & Avon Canal at Devizes earlier this week.

It was fellow boaters alarmed that Stuart Williams dog was wandering up and down the towpath of the waterway and pining, that led to the discovery of the man's body in the icy water, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Top of Caen Hill Flight

Stuart who had been living on his narrowboat Daylight Monarch, moored by the British Waterways depot at the top of Caen Hill Flight, is thought to have fallen into the canal from the towpath as he took his dog for a walk.

Stuart's body was discovered near his boat, with the police confirming that it had been in the water for some time, and that there were no suspicious circumstances.

Rescue Dog

Ginge, who is a rescue dog, is now living with Stuart's daughter.

Stuart was a painter and decorator, and amongst his most prestigious jobs was painting the Royal Pavilion in Brighton.
