Boater dies in canal

THE body of a boater was dragged from the Kennet and Avon Canal in Devizes earlier this week.

Emergency services were called by a boater who saw a man in the water above Caen Hill Flight, with the attending paramedic calling the fire brigade, who retrieved the man, who was however pronounced dead at the scene.

The police told that the man had lived on a boat for several months, and believe he had been in the water for some time.  There are no suspicious circumstances.
