Five Rise plaque unveiled

THE Transport Trust plaque awarded to the Bingley Five Rise staircase was unveiled yesterday (Thursday) at the locks.
As reported earlier this week in NbW the Trust has chosen the locks as one of its most significant sites of transport heritage to be awarded a Red Wheel plaque—the first of its kind in Yorkshire.
In the picture of the unveiling on the old lock keeper's hut by the side of the locks, are left to right Peter Stone (Transport Trust), Mike Clarke (President, Leeds & Liverpool Canal Society), Barry Whitelock (Bingley Five Rise lock keeper) and Judy Jones (Heritage Advisor, British Waterways).
