BOATER, and former athlete George Williams has had his life story published, and devoting its proceeds to charity.

George, as an athlete, has represented Great Britain 12 times, and will be giving the proceeds from his self-published book, Run, Rabbit, Run, Rabbit, Run, Run, Run, to the Royal Derby Hospital's renal unit, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Memory of his wife

He is doing this in memory of his wife, Jean, who died from renal failure in 2002, and so far has raised £40,000 by various means.

George who lives on his narrowboat at Barton Marina, tells:

"I used to run to school singing ‘run rabbit, run rabbit, run, run, run', and the book is about what happened after that, including the events leading up to my success."

George will be signing copies of his book at The Book Barge, at Barton Marina, tomorrow, Sunday, between 2pm and 5pm, and if the weather is unkind  in the Waterfront pub.
